Residents of Azumini Ndoki in Abia State's Ukwa-East Local Government Area staged a peaceful protest against Akwa ibom State Government

Residents of Azumini Ndoki in Abia State's Ukwa-East Local Government Area staged a peaceful protest today against the Akwa Ibom State government's road construction project in their community ¹. The protesters claimed that there was no formal agreement or Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two state governments, except for a verbal approval from Abia State ¹.

The community is concerned that the road construction project, which starts from Ikot Esu-Otomo in Akwa Ibom State and ends at Uzonta road in Azumini Ndoki, is an attempt by the Akwa Ibom State government to expand its territory and encroach on Abia State's land ¹. Community leader Chief Ogbo Ubani accused the Akwa Ibom State government of mischief, stating that Azumini Ndoki community is not part of Akwa Ibom State's territory and should not be included in the road project ¹.

The protest highlights the tension between the two state governments and the need for clear communication and agreements on development projects that affect border communities.
