The Four Versions of Kola

The Four Versions of Kola

In a careful study of Kolaboy and his musical journey, I have come to understand the artist in four versions as below;

 The Story Kola: In his EP where he has songs like Hello Mumsy, Cup, Wire and many more, Kola focuses on sharing the story of his humble beginning in a well structured and descriptive manner that brings his listeners into his experience as a young boy from trenches to stardom.

 The Culture Kola: This version of Kola is evident in songs like Omalicha, Ugomma, Ogoli, Kola From The East EP and many more. This version is possibly the most popular version of his brand as a musical artist thereby adding a red cap to his status as an artist.

 The Street Kola: Kolaboy also has records that mirror the struggles and reality of youths, songs born of his consciousness of his environment like Brotherman ft. Jeriq, Men ft. Aguero Banks and Highstarlavista and a few others. This shows his wide experiences that sharpen his creativity.

 The Club Kola: As a versatile artist who is constantly evolving, The Club Kola in the project; Kolapiano EP which also has infusion of the Culture Kola is the sound of Kola that you can most likely hear in clubs, credit to his thoughtful infusion of oja with Amapiano in songs like Kolapiano Vol. 1 (Nwa Eze), Kolapiano Vol. 2 (Isakaba) ft. Ojadiligbo, the remix featuring Timaya and many more.

Kolaboy has mastered the art of music marketing and artist development by maintaining his essence in all versions, promoting the Igbo culture and sound while also being creative in ways that makes each track unique from previous releases. Whichever version of Kolaboy you prefer, you are sure to get the complete soul of his artistic mastery pillared by strong lyricism.
